Accountable Care Organizations
AMGA and its membership are invested in the success of the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program. To ensure the program provides the proper incentives and framework to support providers who voluntarily join them, AMGA recommends that the Medicare Shared Savings Program be improved by instituting a number of reforms. These include synchronizing rules across each risk model so the regulatory framework is consistent, increasing the shared savings rate that is available, and improving the program’s benchmarking structure so that ACOs have a realistic opportunity earn savings.
