We are witnessing a shift in healthcare to focus on health inequities and address social determinants of health (SDOH). Numerous studies and mountains of anecdotal evidence have demonstrated that treatment and outcomes are often related to race, economic status, gender, age, and other factors beyond the control of healthcare providers. Many innovative medical groups recognized these discrepancies more than a decade ago and have been creating processes and interventions to promote equity within their organizations and communities.
