AMGA CEO Dr. Jerry Penso Appointed to AHRQ National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality

Alexandria, VA – AMGA is pleased to announce that President and CEO Jerry Penso, M.D., M.B.A., has been appointed to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ’s) National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality. The council provides advice and recommendations on priorities for a national health services research agenda to AHRQ’s director and to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The council is made up of private-sector experts who contribute a varied perspective on the healthcare system and the most important questions that AHRQ's research should address in order to promote improvements in the quality, outcomes, and cost-effectiveness of clinical practice. Private-sector members are appointed by the Secretary of HHS to serve a three-year term. Private-sector members represent insurance plans, providers, purchasers, consumers, and researchers.
