AMGA's Rise to Immunize® Campaign Reaches Milestone in Routine Adult Immunizations

Medical Groups and Health Systems Nationwide Document or Administer 11.9 Million Vaccines

Alexandria, VA – Today, the AMGA Foundation’s Rise to Immunize® (RIZE) campaign announced that participating medical groups and health systems have administered or documented 11,938,960 adult vaccines in the first two years of the national initiative. Participants documented or administered over five million vaccines in Year 1 and over six million vaccines in Year 2—tremendous progress in working to achieve the campaign goal of 25 million immunizations by 2025.

The four-year RIZE campaign focuses on four routine adult vaccinations: influenza, pneumococcal, Td/Tdap, and zoster. Since the campaign launched in October of 2021, the average zoster vaccination rate among participating groups has increased 10% from baseline to 30.4%. Over the same period, the bundle measure improved 4%, which equates to approximately 105,000 additional adults 66+ receiving comprehensive immunization care (influenza, pneumococcal, Td/Tdap, and zoster vaccines).

“The impressive results from the first two years of the RIZE campaign demonstrate the commitment of our AMGA members to close immunization care gaps,” said John Kennedy, MD, AMGA chief medical officer and AMGA Foundation president. “They are moving the needle to decrease the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases in the United States.”

Among these participating groups, RIZE selected three AMGA member organizations for the annual “RIZE to the Challenge” Awards, recognizing groups with notable immunization and data achievements. The 2023 award-winners include: McFarland Clinic, PC; Summit Medical Group, PLLC; and the University of California San Diego Health.

To date, 82 AMGA member organizations have joined RIZE—representing more than 50,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) physicians and spanning 29 states. To improve adult vaccination rates, participating AMGA members implement evidence-based care processes, or “campaign planks”; report quarterly immunization data; and use best-practice resources and tools identified and provided by the campaign.
