Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Collaborative

AMGA is pleased to announce a call for participation for AMGA members to join a learning collaborative on succeeding in Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). As a current AMGA member, your organization is eligible for this exclusive program. Our Collaboratives are shared-learning programs that compile evidence of best practices and are designed specifically for medical organizations that are striving to improve the care of their patient population.

Beginning at the 2017 Annual Conference, up to 30 organizations from our community will work alongside one another to explore:

  • Creating the business case for value

  • Maintaining alignment and momentum within the organization

  • Evaluating your QRURs and discovering what interventions will increase your quality performance

  • Understanding your utilization and its impact on your MIPS composite score

  • Meeting the criteria for sharing the $500 million exceptional performance bonus

  • Selecting improvement activities that fit your model

  • Leveraging your ACI investments into improved care processes and results

The goal of the collaboratives is to create a community of knowledge that can help participants accelerate systematic change and make lasting breakthroughs in quality patient care and service that meets or exceeds patient expectations. The Collaborative will begin in March 2017 and conclude in July 2018.

Learning Objectives

  1. Develop strategies to achieve success in all four MIPS domains.

  2. Develop and implement MIPS educational and engagement programs for their organizations.

  3. Understand where the organization's relative performance is compared to each benchmarks and measure organizational performance.

  4. Understand Quality Resource Use Reports (QRURs) and opportunities for improvement.


  1. Participate in 2017 to be potentially rewarded in 2019

  2. Develop tactics to improve performance in all four MIPS domains: quality, advancing care information, improvement activities, and cost

  3. Choose most efficient and cost-effective reporting option for your organization

  4. Measure organizational performance in specific quality or resource domains

  5. Learn about leveraging IT to achieve performance management goals

  6. Learn best practices, optimize and standardize operational tips and tools, and utilize resources from other leading medical groups and health systems

  7. Learn about successful educational and engagement approaches and tools from medical group and health system experts

  8. Develop a culture that enables your organization to implement programs that promote quality and efficiency

  9. Cultivate a lifelong peer-learning network

An advisory committee of industry and clinical experts will provide guidance to the development of the Collaborative and educational content.

How Does the Collaborative work?
Participating organizations will be able to regularly network with peers and have the opportunity to learn and share best practices through:

  • Up to three in-person meetings

  • Roundtable discussions, networking and project updates

  • Monthly webinars

  • Online resources such as a dedicated website for participant material-sharing and a closed Listserv to facilitate group discussion

  • Consultation with experts in the field

Tuition is due on February 3, 2017.

  • $19,000 per participating organization (AMGA member rate)

  • $35,000 per participating organization (Non-AMGA member rate)

Your Tuition covers:

  • All program materials for up to three in-person meeting for two attendees (travel expenses not included)

  • Program webinars

  • Dedicated website and Listserv for participants
