      AMGA Welcomes New Members to Board of Directors

      AMGA, an association representing medical groups and integrated systems of care, announced today the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors, beginning their tenure in January 2026.

      Alexandria, VA — AMGA, an association representing medical groups and integrated systems of care, announced today the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors, beginning their tenure in January 2026. Joining the AMGA Board are the following:

      Steven N. Kalkanis, MD, Executive Vice President, Henry Ford Health, Chief Executive Officer, Henry Ford Medical Group, Chief Executive Officer, Henry Ford Hospital, Henry Ford Health
      Dr. Kalkanis, a nationally recognized neurosurgeon, is Executive Vice President of Henry Ford Health, CEO of Henry Ford Hospital, and CEO of Henry Ford Medical Group. In his role, Kalkanis oversees more than 3,000 physicians and researchers and 1,400 residents and fellows across one of the leading academic healthcare systems in the country. With Henry Ford Health, Dr. Kalkanis spearheaded the development of Henry Ford Health’s Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion and led the creation of an innovative precision medicine and molecular tumor board program that redefined cancer care for patients.

      Dr. Kalkanis is a Harvard University and Harvard Medical School graduate and completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research focuses on refining personalized medicine protocols, particularly for brain tumors, through molecular genetics. He has served in many prestigious leadership rolls, most notably President of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the largest neurosurgical association in the world, and as Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, the accrediting body for all U.S. neurosurgeons.

      Aileen Mickey, MD, MHA, President, MaineHealth Medical Group, MaineHealth
      Dr. Mickey is President of the MaineHealth Medical Group, the largest multispecialty medical group in northern New England. Since becoming president in 2021, she has prioritized the development of consistency and a cohesive culture among more than 2,700 physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) across nine hospitals and more than 200 specialty and primary care practices. Her collaborative approach to leadership has led to improvements in access, engagement, patient experience, quality, and financial health. 

      Dr. Mickey earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, serving as Chief Resident at Boston City Hospital and completing a pulmonary/critical care fellowship at Boston University. She also received her master’s in health administration from the University of Washington. Prior to joining MaineHealth, Dr. Mickey had a 12-year career with EvergreenHealth Medical Group, leading as a pulmonary/crucial care physician, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer. 

      JP Valin, MD, MHA, FACP, Executive Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer, Intermountain Health
      Dr. Valin is the Chief Clinical Officer at Intermountain Health, leading clinical operations across the enterprise to improve equitable access to the highest quality care for patients and communities. He oversees 34 hospitals, 400 clinics and more than 4,800 physicians and APPs across a six-state region. He is a nationally recognized leader in advancing the Proactive Care model, which aligns clinical incentives with patient priorities and focuses on Intermountain’s mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible while ensuring affordability.  

      Dr. Valin earned degrees from Georgetown University and New York Medical College and completed his internal medicine training at New York–Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He practiced clinically as both a full-scope general internist and a full-time hospitalist. He has received multiple awards including the Clinician Experience Project’s CEO Award of Excellence and Huron’s What’s Right in Health Care® Hero Award, and has been named one of Becker’s Healthcare’s 2023 Chief Medical Officers to Know and one of Modern Healthcare’s 2025 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives. 

      Baligh Yehia, MD, MPP, MSc, FACP, President, Jefferson Health
      Dr. Yehia is a nationally acclaimed healthcare leader and president of Jefferson Health. He oversees a dynamic academic health system comprising of 32 hospitals and more than 700 care sites across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Under his leadership, Jefferson Health is executing a bold strategy to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape and position Jefferson Health as one of the most accessible health systems in the country. Dr. Yehia is spearheading Jefferson Health’s ambitious artificial intelligence strategy, which aims to reclaim 10 million clinical hours by 2028. 

      Dr. Yehia holds degrees from the University of Florida, Princeton University, and the University of Pennsylvania, and is trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He has been recognized by Modern Healthcare, Becker’s Healthcare, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians as one of healthcare’s top leaders. Previously, Dr. Yehia served as the first Deputy Under Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he transformed the VA’s Community Care Network to better serve veterans by delivering community-based outpatient, inpatient, telehealth, and extended care services.
