Alexandria, VA – Recently, AMGA urged Congress to address critical healthcare policies that will expire on January 30, as well as to extend the expired Affordable Care Act Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (ePTCs). Addressing these critical issues is essential to preserving patient access to care, supporting healthcare providers, and maintaining stability across the healthcare system.

In a letter to Congressional leadership, AMGA highlighted the need for long-term legislation to support the Medicare telehealth expansion, the Hospital at Home program, and the Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI) Floor. The letter also called for continued delays to scheduled cuts to the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) program and for the reinstatement of the expired ePTCs.

"The impact extends to patients across America who use telehealth, healthcare organizations that need predictable policy, and a system that requires long-term certainty to function effectively," said AMGA President and CEO Jerry Penso, MD, MBA. “We urge Congress to act to extend the critical policies called out in our letter.”

The full letter is available on the AMGA website.
