AMGA Announces Two Leadership Changes within Analytics Subsidiary

Alexandria, VA – AMGA has announced two leadership changes within its subsidiary, AMGA Analytics. Elizabeth Ciemins, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.A., has been promoted to Vice President, Research and Analytics, and Jill Powelson, Dr.P.H., M.P.H., M.B.A., R.N., CPC to Vice President, Collaborative for Performance Excellence (CPX).

In these new roles, Dr. Ciemins will oversee development and leadership of AMGA’s research and analytics operations, while Dr. Powelson will continue to oversee CPX, a learning collaborative available to AMGA members that uses data and advanced analytics to achieve success in preparing for risk-based contracts and driving clinical and operational efficiencyJohn Cuddeback, M.D., Ph.D., will continue to serve as AMGA’s Chief Medical Informatics Officer, moving to a part-time role.

“Both Elizabeth and Jill have contributed greatly to the growing capabilities of AMGA Analytics,” said Jerry Penso, M.D., M.B.A., AMGA president and CEO. “CPX has become a cornerstone program, while AMGA Analytics provides robust resources for data analysis and implementation science, as well as acts as the backbone for AMGA Foundation’s collaboratives and campaigns. I’m certain Elizabeth and Jill will continue to advance their areas and provide exceptional value and insights to AMGA members.”

Dr. Ciemins previously served as AMGA’s Senior Director, Research and Analytics. She holds a Ph.D. in health services and policy analysis from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.P.H. in population and community health from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Powelson previously served as AMGA’s Senior Director, CPX. She holds a Dr.P.H. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.B.A. from the University of Memphis, and a M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University. She is also a licensed Registered Nurse, and an AAPC Certified Professional Coder.

“Jill’s and Elizabeth’s personal talents and dedication add immense value to AMGA Analytics,” Cuddeback said. “Both came to AMGA from a member organization, so they each bring to the table a deep understanding of our members’ needs. This understanding enables them to guide their respective programs in a direction that maximizes value to AMGA members.”
