AMGA Members Commit to Key Actions to Help Nation Reach 70% Vaccination Rate by July 4
Effort represents 103,000 physicians and 1.1 million employees who care for 64 million patients.
Alexandria, VA – AMGA members have committed to take four actions between now and Independence Day to support President Biden’s goal of 70% of U.S. adults having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine by July 4. The 165 AMGA members who signed on to the commitment are listed below.
The four actions the AMGA medical groups and healthcare systems are taking include:
- Proactively educate and reach out to patients: Ask all patients who visit whether they’ve been vaccinated; talk to them about their concerns if they have not been. Actively contact as many patients as possible about getting vaccinated.
- Partner with community organizations: Collaborate with nearby community organizations to encourage uptake in underserved communities. Answer questions and help schedule appointments. Get the word out that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free.
- Serve as a public vaccine ambassador: Use traditional or social media channels to shine a bright light on why it is so important to get vaccinated.
- Encourage healthcare colleagues to get the vaccine: Pursue a goal of 100% of practice colleagues getting fully vaccinated and conduct vaccine education efforts to achieve success.

The 165 AMGA member groups that immediately signed on to take action play a critical role in increasing the nation’s COVID vaccination rate,” said AMGA President and CEO Jerry Penso, M.D., M.B.A. “Representing 103,000 physicians and 1.1 million employees who care for 64 million patients, their impact will be significant in pushing us toward the President’s goal.”
“AMGA members have been on the front lines of COVID-19 testing, treatment, and vaccination, and I’m certain each and every one is taking actions to encourage their communities to get vaccinated,” Penso continued. “Our collective efforts have been and will continue to be a driving force in helping our nation put an end to the pandemic.”
