Medical groups have not consistently pursued specialty-specific population health metrics. In 2018, Woodland Clinic Medical Group in California embarked on this journey. They launched group-wide clinical quality metrics for primary care as well as for specialty patient populations. Across approximately 30 specialties and subspecialties, doctors and advanced practice clinicians worked together to design metrics that applied to their specialty patients.
