Women in Leadership

The Council is a trusted network for all women at an AMGA medical group member – regardless of role or where you are in your career.

The Council's current Chair is Sharon Gabrielson, M.H.A., chair, Mayo Clinic Global Business Solutions.

Members of the Council are committed to sharing ideas, strategies, and information with colleagues facing similar challenges and to building stronger professional connections with their peers. This is achieved through various mediums including face-to-face meetings, webinars, and a dedicated listserv reserved solely for Council members. Topics members have focused on include:

  • Work/life balance
  • Mentoring
  • Finding a sponsor
  • Leadership styles

Council members must be willing to actively work together on activities which can accelerate collective learning, reduce the costs of innovation and discovery, and facilitate the transfer of new knowledge to the larger community of AMGA members.

Join New Women in Leadership Mentoring Program

We welcome members of the Women in Leadership Council to join AMGA CONNECTIONS!, an online mentoring program aimed at the development and advancement of women healthcare leaders. The purpose of the program is to connect women at member organizations to share knowledge, skills, and experiences and to develop communities around specific topics for development.

The program provides a variety of resources on an online community-based platform to connect members to members and share the AMGA CONNECTIONS! resources. Key features of the platform include: processes to guide participants to set clear career and professional development goals; tips for “modern” and traditional mentoring as well as peer and group mentoring; resources such as reading lists; and online member profiles providing professional information, expertise, and skills.

For more information or to join the Council, contact Joe DeLisle, 703.838.0033 ext. 355.
