Optimizing Revenue Under Emerging Medicare PolicyRichelle Marting, JD, MHSA, RHIA, CPC, CEMC, CPMA, CPC-I, Healthcare Reimbursement Attorney, Marting Law, LLCMedicare payment policies have evolved to increasingly cover care management, non-face-to-face, and inherent complexity of services adding onto traditional fee- for- service reimbursement of services. Identifying services added as covered benefits each year is essential to offset annual reductions to the physician fee schedule conversion factor, but these services are frequently overlooked as opportunities to capture charges and revenue. In conjunction with new service opportunities, Medicare’s telehealth policy had been incrementally expanding year after year since the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, but fall 2025 will be paramount to long-term telehealth policy in the Medicare program, with critical deadlines to extend the flexibilities professional groups have grown accustomed to relying upon for the expansion of healthcare into telehealth formats. This session will highlight recently adopted revenue opportunities under the Medicare program, Medicare’s policy for split/shared billing and its impact on wRVU attribution, and current proposals for telehealth policy into 2026.
