AMGA Appoints New Members to Public Policy Committee

Alexandria, VA – AMGA announced that Steven Green, M.D., chief medical officer of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, and Philip Oravetz, M.D., chief population health officer of Ochsner Health, are the newest members of its Public Policy Committee (PPC).

The PPC is made up of constituent-advisors who represent the different segments of AMGA’s membership. The PPC’s purpose is to help AMGA balance its legislative and political advocacy agenda.

“The PPC plays an integral role in AMGA’s ability to align its regulatory and legislative pursuits with the interests of its entire, diverse membership,” said Chet Speed, J.D., AMGA chief policy officer. “Drs. Green and Oravetz together have over 40 years of experience in managing high-performing healthcare systems. Their knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to AMGA’s policy development and advocacy.”

Dr. Green is chief medical officer of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, a multispecialty medical group in San Diego, California, which has more than 550 doctors practicing in 22 clinics across San Diego County. Sharp Rees-Stealy is part of Sharp HealthCare, San Diego’s leading health care provider which includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, and three affiliated medical groups. He has chaired numerous departments and serves on the medical group’s board of directors. Dr. Green also is a past member of the AMGA board of directors.

Dr. Oravetz serves as the chief population health officer at Ochsner Health System, which is the largest integrated delivery system in southeast Louisiana. As an experienced medical professional in integrated delivery, Dr. Oravetz serves as lead in the development of Ochsner’s Population Health Model and the Pursuit of Value initiatives. He is a frequent national speaker on population health and value based contracts.
