AMGA Foundation Welcomes Two New Board Members

AMGA Foundation welcomes Nancy Beran, MD, MHCDS, FACP, CPE, and Scott Berkowitz, MD, MBA, to its Board of Directors. Both Drs. Beran and Berkowitz began their new terms in January 2024.

Alexandria, VA – AMGA Foundation welcomes Nancy Beran, MD, MHCDS, FACP, CPE, and Scott Berkowitz, MD, MBA, to its Board of Directors. Both Drs. Beran and Berkowitz began their new terms in January 2024.

Nancy Beran, MD, MHCDS, FACP, CPE, is the vice president and chief quality officer for ambulatory at Northwell Health in New York. In this role, Dr. Beran is focused on identifying at-risk populations, creating programs to help address inequities and barriers to care, and building programs to improve access and care escalation. In her work, Dr. Beran has presented on women leadership in practice management and on collaborative care strategies to support behavioral health in ambulatory care. She is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including AMGA’s Chief Medical Officers Leadership Council.

Scott Berkowitz, MD, MBA, is the chief population health officer and vice president of population health for Johns Hopkins Medicine in Maryland. Dr. Berkowitz began his journey with Johns Hopkins as an intern in 2003. Since then, he has held positions throughout the organization focused on leading healthcare delivery transformation efforts. In 2020, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan appointed Dr. Berkowitz to represent The Johns Hopkins University on the Maryland State Board of Physicians. He is also an associate professor of cardiology at the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
