Your Voice on Capitol Hill
Your Voice on Capitol Hill
Once a year, AMGA invites members from all over the country to come to Washington DC for our annual Capitol Hill Day. The day involves scheduled meetings with elected officials from each state represented by our members. Members came from California, Florida, Michigan, and many other states.
As members walked around Capitol Hill, attending numerous meetings, hot topics discussed included:
- Future of Medicare
- Protect Medicaid Funding
- Pathway to Value
- Improving Medicare Advantage
- Addressing the Nation’s Provider Shortage
- Reduce Administrative Waste, Promote Innovation, and Ensure Long-Term Stability
- Improving the 340B Drug Pricing Program
The AMGA Board of Directors also had the opportunity to hear from Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC), co-chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus. Abe Sutton, director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) and deputy administrator for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, as he discussed leveraging technology to help transform healthcare.
How You Can Get Involved
AMGA members interested in getting involved with AMGA policy advocacy efforts can join the District Advocacy Program (DAP). DAP participants meet virtually with members of Congress and their staff to discuss critical issues in healthcare. Our team also offers August facility tours. With Members of Congress being in recess during the month of August, this is a great opportunity to invite members to tour the facility or meet in the district.
AMGA urges Congress to use the Task Force recommendations as a blueprint for MACRA reauthorization and broader Medicare reform efforts. AMGA stands ready to work with Congress and other stakeholders to implement these changes and fulfill the original promise of MACRA: a stable, predictable payment system that rewards high-quality, high-value care.
