Research and Analytics
AMGA offers robust resources for data analysis and implementation research. We assist members in improving population health, using comparative benchmarking to discover opportunities, and predictive analytics to identify high-risk patients. We drive discovery and sharing of best practices and help members translate them into their practice through the introduction of new tools and strategies supported by implementation science.
Through partnerships with Lightbeam Health Solutions, AMGA’s exclusive partner for analytics and population health management solutions, and Optum Labs,® AMGA’s primary research partner (AMGA is a charter partner), AMGA Research and Analytics has access to an unparalleled clinical database of longitudinal electronic health record (EHR) and claims data across multiple health systems for research purposes.
Our analytics team looks for hidden trends and clinical opportunities that may not be apparent when examining individual organization’s data. As the healthcare environment shifts to value-based care and our members become more focused on population health management and accountable care, AMGA Research and Analytics offers advanced data analytics, including predictive modeling to identify at- and high-risk patients.
Relying on implementation science (how healthcare organizations get things done), we help members invest in small, targeted changes that lead to significant improvements in population health. AMGA’s High-Performing Physician Enterprise Program (HPPE) also helps members improve population health through quality measure benchmarks compared with other AMGA members, accomplished in partnership with Lightbeam.
Adoption and integration of evidence-based findings into real world practice is essential to leverage recent advances in health care and address complex health care problems. AMGA leverages implementation science the study of how health systems get things done, to build internal capacity and integrate evidence into practice. Implementation research fosters innovation at the clinic level, enabling researchers to learn from clinicians and vice versa. See more. . .
Find out how your organization compares to other top performers across the nation by participating in AMGA’s benchmarking activities. Our analytics team collects and reports benchmarking data for the AMGA Foundation’s Best Practices Learning Collaboratives, and the Rise to Immunize™ national campaign on adult immunization. AMGA provides additional valuable benchmarking opportunities for your physician enterprise through the HPPE program and AMGA Consulting medical group benchmarks. Benchmarking leads to discovery of best practices as we investigate how and why high performers do better and translate key research findings for use by other AMGA members.
AMGA Research and Analytics brings rigor to the performance accountability for AMGA Foundation’s collaboratives and campaigns. We handle all aspects of data reporting associated with AMGA quality initiatives, from the development of performance measure specifications, from creation of a secure, interactive web portal, to development of performance measure specifications, benchmarking reports, and assisting members in resolving data anomalies.
Together with our research partner, Optum Labs,® AMGA Research and Analytics works with NCQA and others to develop and test measures, representing the interests of AMGA members in measure development, i.e., ensuring meaningful measures that minimize the measurement burden on provider organizations. By engaging in measure development, we can calibrate performance indicators that ultimately lead to payment incentives that align with real-world clinic settings and improved population health.
