Preeminent Healthcare Provider Organizations Share Strategies for Managing Risk and Populations
AMGA IQL Conference Highlights Succeeding in Value-based Care
New Orleans, LA -The American Medical Group Association (AMGA) is convening more than 500 participants, representing the leaders of the nation's preeminent healthcare provider organizations, at the Institute for Quality Leadership 2014 Annual Conference (IQL 2014), November 12- 14 at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Under the theme “Managing Risk, Managing Populations,” IQL 2014 will explore the critical competencies required of high-performing health systems with a specific focus on managing risk and managing populations. Leaders from the nation’s foremost healthcare organizations that are making the shift to value-based reimbursement will share strategies for thriving in this dynamic environment.
IQL2014 also will feature provocative plenary sessions. To open the conference on Thursday, Craig Samitt, MD, MBA, president and chief executive officer, HealthCare Partners, will share his experience over the years as CEO of several pioneering value-based integrated delivery systems, and the innovations he predicts will drive a broader transformation of the US health system. Then James C. Robinson, PhD, MPH, Leonard D. Schaeffer Professor of Health Economics and chair, Berkeley Center for Health Technology, School of Public Health, Division of Health Policy and Management, will discuss how consumer cost-sharing can impact our healthcare system.
On Friday, David Nash, MD, MBA, founding dean, Jefferson School of Population Health, will take a look at the future of patient care – where tools and technology will allow medical groups to provide the best, most cost-efficient care possible, while measuring outcomes which allow them to receive compensation for the improvement in our patient’s care. To close the conference, Paul Grundy, MD, MPH, director, IBM Global Healthcare Transformation, known as the "Godfather" of the Patient-Centered Medical Home, a member of the Institute of Medicine and recipient of the 2012 National Committee for Quality Assurance Quality Award, will discuss how technology and data can propel s medical group’s success with population management.
At IQL2014, leaders from some of AMGA’s most prestigious members will share innovative strategies and ground-breaking processes that are enabling them to succeed in Medicare advantage and value-based health care. Acclaim Award Presentation
AMGA will also present the 2014 AMGA Acclaim Award to Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group for The Reality of Becoming a High-Performing Health System™, which detailed their transformation to a team-based, accountable delivery system that continuously improves the quality of care, patient experience, and overall cost-effectiveness. Two additional groups will be named as Acclaim Award Honorees: HealthTexas Provider Network and Wellmont Medical Associates.
AMGA's prestigious Acclaim Award honors organizations that are meeting the IOM Aims for Improvement and are taking the necessary steps to become a high-performing health system as defined by the AMGA. The award highlights the continued research and investigation toward finding the finest models of medical management, coordination of care delivery, and a systemic approach to improving the patient experience. The recipient of the award receives a Steuben-designed Crystal, produced specifically for the award, as well as national recognition. Honorees also are recognized and receive crystal awards.
