This virtual meeting experience will focus on “rebuilding” strategies to support AMGA members post the COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing data as the foundation for practical improvement. Over two days, CPX will broadcast educational sessions on financial performance, practice efficiency, telemedicine, total cost of care, leadership through change, and more. The CPX Collaborative builds off of AMGA’s longstanding history of bringing members together around shared learning through benchmarking, and aims to provide you with tactical strategies for performance improvement this July.

During this session, Dr. Powelson will provide a brief orientation to CPX for first-time attendees, as well as valuable updates about activities and plans for all collaborative participants and guests. Dr. Powelson will also provide an overview of the virtual event with highlights and instructions about what to expect and how to get the most out of each session over the next two half days. Upon conclusion of this orientation, AMGA Consulting will discuss how the use of data is instrumental in operationalizing change within an organization and the greater focus needed today as medical groups find themselves digging out of a financial hole. They will share their insights on sources of data, including benchmarking surveys, and discuss the negative impacts of variation within medical groups. They will go into further detail and provide examples in the areas of provider compensation and productivity alignment, clinic staffing and moving toward value.

This 75 minute session features three AMGA member organizations discussing their recent advancements in telemedicine and their anticipated plans for post-COVID telemedicine practices. Panelists will share strategies to overcoming barriers around provider adoption, patient acceptance, technology and workflow, as well as overall best practices and lessons learned. Panelists will also discuss payer coverage and physician and APP compensation. Further, a new CPX telemedicine utilization benchmark measure will be introduced. Dr. John Kennedy will moderate Q&A with the audience.

This one-hour session will feature an informative and interactive discussion about the cost of care and specific areas of opportunity within this challenging topic. Prior to the virtual meeting, AMGA is surveying CPX collaborative participants for their ranking of ambulatory care sensitive conditions of greatest importance to them, as well as rating additional specific opportunities for reduction in the cost of care. The survey results will be discussed between the panelists, who will also share their own challenges, wins, and best practices in addressing the cost of care. AMGA staff will provide a drill-down, granular view into one of the opportunities for reduction in the cost of care, illustrating how CPX benchmark data can be used to identify opportunities for cost reduction that align with your organization’s value and risk priorities. A new CPX benchmark for Per Member Per Month cost will be introduced.

Colorectal Cancer Screening and the Impact on Quality Initiatives post COVID

This 40 minute session revisits the Colorectal Cancer Screening “Baby Shark Tank” activity held during the Winter 2020 CPX meeting in Hollywood, Florida. At that meeting, panelists described their different journeys toward implementing systematic colorectal cancer screening programs, including interventions, quality assets and liabilities. They received guidance from “shark tank” groups comprised of peers. In July, the original panelists will share their adaptive plans to refocus on colorectal cancer screening post-COVID. The panelists will discuss what they are changing going forward, including newly evolving best practices, to get colorectal cancer screening back on track.

As groups are working through the COVID crisis, the fear and anger related to police brutality, discrimination, and racism, as well as the ongoing challenge of health disparities, Dr. Terrell will present a timely, inspirational and forward-looking talk to help groups prepare successfully for the future. This session will also include an introduction by Dr. Jerry Penso, CEO of AMGA.
