March 16, 2020
It has been unprecedented week for all of us. We know many of you are dealing with situations that were unimaginable just a short time ago. Yet we are confident that you, the leaders of health care in America, are the best people to manage this rapidly evolving challenge.

Last Tuesday, March 10, AMGA made the difficult decision to convert our Annual Conference to a virtual conference. As the situation has evolved, it is now clear that many members would not be able to participate in a virtual conference due to dealing with the COVID-19 situation. AMGA has decided to provide a full letter of credit, minus a $100 administrative fee, for all full conference, preconference, and leadership council registrations related to the 2020 Annual Conference. The letter of credit is good for two years, transferable to another person, and can be used for any AMGA activity. You will be receiving the official letter of credit in early April.

As an alternative to receiving a letter of credit, you may consider donating all or a portion of your registration fee credit to the AMGA Foundation. The Foundation brings AMGA members together to tackle the nation’s most pressing public health challenges. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Andi Eberly at aeberly@amga.org.

We plan to make all 40 breakout sessions available on demand for AMGA members later this spring so you and your teams can watch them at your convenience and earn CME.

AMGA also wants to be the place where you can learn how your peers are responding to COVID-19.  Many of you have begun to share your questions, experiences, polices, and evolving strategies on AMGA’s Leadership Council Communities pages, including posts from members in areas that are currently the hardest hit, like Seattle, California and New York. Last week, we hosted a CMO Leadership Council call on COVID-19, and we will be hosting a CEO Council call tomorrow, March 17, at noon ET.  I encourage you to continue to post, respond, and participate. If you are not yet in a Leadership Council and would like to participate, please contact Alexis Brunson at abrunson@amga.org.

AMGA has been your steadfast partner for over 70 years, and we will continue to be there for you as we navigate this pandemic. Although the CDC has recommended “social distancing” in our everyday lives, this is a time for us to come together and support each other as we combat this public health crisis.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we wish you well in the coming weeks.
