Theresa M. Frei, R.N., B.S.N., M.B.A.
Ms. Frei has had a distinguished career in healthcare, culminating in her current role as President and CEO of Sutter Valley Medical Foundation.
She provides operational leadership and support for Sutter Health’s medical foundations and physician partners in Northern California’s Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys — caring for more than 1,000,000 patients in communities from Yuba City to Turlock and from Vallejo to Auburn.
Ms. Frei is committed to bringing the patient’s voice into healthcare delivery and enabling frontline clinicians and staff to create a healing experience for patients and their families. She is passionate about lowering the overall spending on health care in America through her role in AMGA Foundation, which promotes learning and collaboration across the high-performing health systems in America.
She dedicated a significant portion of her career to quality improvement efforts and has spoken at national conferences on the topic. She was the founding chair (2007-2010, 2012-2015) of the California Patient Safety Action Coalition, a statewide coalition focusing on promoting the principles of a safety culture across the healthcare continuum.
Ms. Frei holds an undergraduate degree in nursing and a graduate degree in business administration. She also completed the California Healthcare Foundation Healthcare Leaders Fellowship Program in 2005.
Ms. Frei is Chair of AMGA’s CEO Leadership Council and Treasurer of AMGA Foundation.
