AMGA Submits Comments to CMS in Response to Request for Information on ACO Evolution

AMGA submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' Innovation Center last Friday in response to a Request for Information (RFI) on a possible second round of applications to the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) program, and the evolution of ACO programs generally.  Questions ranged from whether additional entities would be interested in becoming Pioneer ACOs, to what changes could be made to make the program more attractive.  There were also questions on how features of the Medicare Shared Savings Program could evolve to include Medicaid populations and accountability for Part D expenditures.

AMGA's comments were developed after consultation with several member medical groups with experience implementing ACO programs, and are available here.
