AMGA to Host 2,000+ Healthcare Decision Makers at 2019 Annual Conference
Key Speakers Include Zubin Damania, Marty Makary, and Jenn Lim

Alexandria, VA – AMGA will host more than 2,000 healthcare leaders at its 2019 Annual Conference, March 27-30 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. The meeting brings together leaders from medical groups and integrated systems of care around the country to share best practices and strategies for success in health care.

The three keynote speakers for AMGA’s 2019 Annual Conference will be Zubin “ZDoggMD” Damania, M.D., Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H., and Jenn Lim.

Zubin “ZDogg” Damania, M.D., is the founder of Turntable Health and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ (UNLV’s) School of Medicine. During his session, Damania will use a unique blend of hip-hop, humor, and creative storytelling to discuss an ideal model of care, called Health 3.0; where “evidence-based medicine promotes better care, but doesn’t challenge care teams with inflexible processes.”

Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H., holds many titles at Johns Hopkins University: director of the Center for Opioid Research and Education, endowed chair of gastrointestinal surgery, director of surgical quality and safety, and founding director of Johns Hopkins Center for Surgical Outcomes Research and Clinical Trials. He is also the author of bestseller Unaccountable. Makary’s session will focus on quality improvement strategies health system leaders can implement to prepare for a coming era of publicly reported metrics. He will also review best practices for infection prevention and the role of hospital culture in improving outcomes.

Jenn Lim, is co-founder, chief executive officer, and chief happiness officer of Delivering Happiness; Culture Book creator; and consultant at Zappos. Lim’s session will feature a scientific approach to incorporating employee happiness into business models and explore the economic benefits of doing so.

These plenary session speakers will join more than 100 other leaders from the nation’s preeminent medical groups and health systems presenting in 43 sessions where they will share their groundbreaking strategies and innovations. Topics covered in sessions include:

  • Physician resiliency and burnout
  • Physician leadership
  • Revenue, cost, and operational improvement
  • Value-driven payment models, including Medicare Advantage
  • Disruption and innovation
