Donor Spotlight on Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group
This month’s donor spotlight is on Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group featuring
Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer Steven A. Green, M.D. Founded in
1923, Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group is one of the largest, most comprehensive
medical groups in San Diego County, with more than 500 physicians and 2,800
staff members who represent virtually every field of medicine. Dedicated to the
highest quality patient care, Sharp Rees-Stealy has been a steadfast participant
in AMGA Foundation programs. As a member of the AMGA Board of Directors and the
Cabinet for the Campaign for a Healthier America, Dr. Green has championed Sharp
Rees-Stealy’s participation in AMGA Foundation’s goal to drive positive health
outcomes for 100 million patients by 2025.
AMGA Foundation: Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group has always been a leader in
delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. How do you think the
Campaign for a Healthier America will assist in fulfilling your mission?
Green: The work of the AMGA Foundation is important, as it truly helps us to
improve the care of patients nationwide. The fact that the Foundation
acknowledges medical groups for outstanding performance with awards such as its
annual Acclaim Award, helps us showcase the important work we are doing in
improving the health of our patients. Receiving such recognition helps groups
like ours demonstrate the value we are providing to our communities.
AMGA Foundation: You participated in our first national campaign, Measure
Up/Pressure Down® and now are active in Together 2 Goal®. How have these
national campaigns informed the care Sharp Rees-Stealy is providing?
Green: Moving into this level of hands-on population management was a big
step for our physicians. Participating in a national campaign helped
clarify the importance of what we were doing. It also helped to have benchmark
data, as no physician wants to be outdone when it comes to providing great care
to their patients.
AMGA Foundation: What is your personal connection to the Campaign’s goal to
improve care for 100 million patients?
Green: I serve on the Cabinet for the Campaign for a Healthier America,
helping to communicate the vision of what the Foundation can do for medical
groups and systems. Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group is proud to support and work
with the Foundation to improve the health of San Diegans, as well as all
AMGA Foundation: Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group has historically been a
generous supporter of AMGA Foundation. Why would you encourage other medical
organizations to support our Campaign for a Healthier America?
Green: The Campaign for a Healthier America is important not only for
improving the health of millions of Americans, but for showcasing what
high-functioning health systems are capable of achieving. What better way to
convince policymakers of the benefit of what AMGA member groups are capable of,
than to show with objective numbers the better health outcomes we are able to
achieve together for our patients.
