Purpose
The Foundation is offering an AMGF Fellowship as the major benefit for a corporate gift at the $500,000 level. The purpose of this program is twofold: first, a fellowship aligns with the Foundation’s mission of increasing key research and education, and second, it provides an attractive, tangible benefit for a corporation vested in improving the healthcare environment.
This fellowship program will establish a cadre of champions of total coordinated care who will continue to study and inform the industry regarding the critical role this healthcare delivery model plays in transforming the quality of health care. Ultimately, this program is designed to demonstrate that the multispecialty, integrated care medical group model is the most advanced system for delivering total coordinated patient care. Total coordinated care is quality health care that ensures that patients have access to the right care, at the right time, every time.
How It Works
The Foundation is offering several research fellowships around topics that focus on improving the healthcare system. Such topics may include, but will not be limited to:
Fellows have the option of undertaking a fellowship project for up to twelve months, but shorter fellowship projects may be possible, with a minimum of nine months. All fellows, regardless of the length of their projects, will take part in educational meetings of the American Medical Group Association during the course of the year. The amount of time an individual fellow needs to spend during their project will be determined by the topic, but should allow for the fellow to carry out a part-time job in addition to the fellowship project.
Stipends for up to $50,000 will be awarded on the basis of length of the fellowship and project need. Applicants will need to submit a budget outline and an estimated timeframe for their project, along with specific goals that will be accomplished during the fellowship.
Qualified candidates must be from some part of the health sector, and will be required to commit to between .25 and .50 equivalent FTE, depending on the scope of the project undertaken. The time required will be negotiated with the Fellowship Coordinator once the project has been determined. Individuals interested in applying for a fellowship should send the following materials to the program director (AMGF):
A panel will review all applications and make recommendations regarding acceptance to the American Medical Group Foundation Board of Directors. Candidates will then be notified of the Board’s decision.
How Fellowships Are Supported
The American Medical Group Association will seek support from industry partners that share the Foundation’s vision of a better healthcare system through total coordinated care, and that are willing to support a Fellowship in the amount of $500,000 over a three-year period. These organizations may have a Fellowship named for their company or for an individual of their choosing.
