The American Medical Group Foundation
Carleton T. Rider, Senior Administrator, Mayo Foundation, currently
serves as Chair of the American Medical Group Foundation (AMGF). Mr.
Rider was Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Medical
Group Association (AMGA) in 2004.
As Senior Administrator of Mayo Foundation, Mr. Rider’s
responsibilities include oversight of continuous improvement,
international administration, and project executive for the new Mayo
Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville. Mr. Rider served as the Administrator
of Mayo Clinic Jacksonville from its opening in 1986 to 1993. He is a
Director of Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., and served as a member of the
Mayo Foundation Board of Trustees 1993-1997. He has been an examiner
for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Mr. Rider served as
the 1992 Campaign Chair of the United Way of Northeast Florida and the
1995 Campaign Chair of the United Way of Olmsted County.
Mr. Rider is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served in Viet
Nam in the United States Marine Corps. He holds a Bachelor’s degree
from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s Degree from San
Francisco State University, and a Master of Public Health in Hospital
Administration from the University of California-Berkeley. Prior to
joining the Mayo Clinic in 1977, he was an administrator at the
Institute of Medical Sciences, San Francisco.
