As the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act is being debated
in the Supreme Court, the future of Accountable Care Organizations
(ACOs) hangs in the balance. Whatever the final decision on the
Affordable Care Act, the accountable care concept is here to stay, as
evidenced by models emerging in the commercial insurance sector. The
challenge is how your organization can remain current, adapt to new
incentives, and continue to move toward a more-efficient model of care
that can radically improve patient outcomes and deliver value to your
patient population.
This year’s Institute for Quality Leadership Annual Conference will
continue the exploration of accountable care and will provide
organizations with tangible tools to become high-performing care
organizations. Health system leaders from around the country will
present successful models of accountable care that provides true value
to patients.
Details will be posted here later this month.
What is the Institute for Quality Leadership?
The Institute for Quality Leadership (IQL) is devoted to improving the
quality of care delivered in the U.S. healthcare system through the
advancement of knowledge and the education of healthcare
professionals. Its programs are designed to help healthcare
organizations improve clinical quality, patient safety, service, and
operational efficiency, and to share best practices in patient care.
The IQL is supported by the American Medical Group Association (AMGA)
and its 501(c)3 philanthropic affiliate, the
American Medical Group Foundation
(AMGF). For more than 50 years, the AMGA
has been the most effective voice in advocating for the multispecialty
medical group model of coordinated care delivery. The members of the
AMGA are world leaders in quality improvement and have embraced the need
to transform the healthcare system. Through innovation and leadership,
these medical practices are rising to the challenge put forth by the
Institute of Medicine to redesign patient care delivery systems to
provide patients the care they need, want, and deserve. To support their
efforts, the AMGF was formed as the philanthropic arm of the AMGA to
develop grant programs, quality awards, research and education programs
and to provide support for initiatives that exemplify the continuing
quest for quality care. The AMGF is the primary supporter of the
Institute for Quality Leadership Annual Conference and the AMGA’s
quality improvement activities. |
