AMGA and AMGF will present the 2010 Acclaim Award, AMGA's most prestigious quality award, honoring physician-directed organizations that bring the American healthcare system closer to a delivery model in which patients experience care that is safer, more reliable, more responsive, more integrated, and more readily available.

4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Creating High Performing Care Organizations: What It Means to Be an ACO

This presentation will frame our discussion of Accountable Care Organizations, starting with a legislative history of ACOs, a definition of an ACO, and next steps healthcare organizations have to make to move toward this model. Drawing on the experiences of AMGA’s 2010 regional meetings on ACOs, Dr. Fisher will explore opportunities and strategies to facilitate your group’s evolution toward an ACO.

5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Healthcare Reform and Coordinated Systems of Care: Moving Forward on the Journey to ACOs

Administrator of government agency tasked with developing the regulatory framework for ACOs will discuss the administration’s plans.
