Getting There from Here: A Physician’s Thoughts on Healthcare Reform
In the debate over American healthcare system reform, medical groups are often provided as examples of systems that can deliver on President Obama’s promise of safe, high-quality, accountable, and affordable health care. In this presentation, Dr. Gawande will discuss why the American healthcare system does not need to be completely redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up to deliver on this promise. He will demonstrate how medical groups can continue to lead the way in reforming health care in America by focusing on accountability and building on systems already in place within the medical group community. He also will provide lessons learned from other industrialized nations that have reformed their systems in times of crisis.

7 Lessons for Leading in Crisis
The crisis caused by failed leadership across all industries can only be solved by leaders with renewed wisdom and skills to put their organizations back on the right track for long-term success. In this presentation, Bill George will provide seven concrete lessons, including delegation, sacrifice, and implementation of needed changes within your organization, to place your medical group on a clear path to success during this time of economic uncertainty and national reform. Medical group leaders will not want to miss this important presentation from a former healthcare CEO, who will inspire you to find that leader within.

Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard
Healthcare reform is inevitable. Sweeping changes to the way care is delivered and financed will require medical group leaders to inspire, lead, and transform their groups to remain competitive and even to stay in business to provide care to their communities. In this closing presentation, Dan Heath will guide you on how to implement change within your organization by motivating your team and empowering members of your staff. You will leave with tools to inspire change and the ability to communicate the ideas and lessons learned during your experience at the AMGA 2010 Annual Conference.
