CBO's mandate is to provide the Congress with objective,
nonpartisan, and timely analyses to aid in economic and budgetary
decisions on the wide array of programs covered by the federal
budget and the information and estimates required for the
Congressional budget process
Centers for Disease
Control- Part of
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary
Federal agency for conducting and supporting public health
activities in the United States.
Department of
Health and Human Services-
the United States government's principal agency for protecting the
health of all Americans and providing essential human services,
especially for those who are least able to help themselves.
Government
Accountability Office-
known as "the investigative arm of Congress" and "the congressional
watchdog." GAO supports the Congress in meeting its constitutional
responsibilities and helps improve the performance and
accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the
American people.

Advisory Commission (MedPAC)-
an independent Congressional agency established by the Balanced
Budget Act of 1997 to advise the U.S. Congress on issues affecting

of Health- A
part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the
primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical
research.
National Library of
Medicine-Part of
the National Institutes of Health; the world's largest medical
library. The Library collects materials and provides information and
research services in all areas of biomedicine and health care.

Committee on Finance Subcommittee on Health-
Senate Committee with jurisdiction over the Department of Health and
Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and
State Children Health Insurance Program.
Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions-
Jurisdiction includes the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of
Health, the Administration on Aging, the Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration, and the Agency for Healthcare
Research and Quality.

Medicine-Part of
the National Academies, offers science-based advice on matters of
biomedical science, medicine, and health.
Medicare Learning Network-
Part of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, offers
educational information for Medicare fee-for-service providers.
